I'm a Slacker!

It has been over a month since I have blogged anything. I am a Slacker with a capitol S!!Blogging by phone has proven to be a challenge and I didn't have the fight in me anymore :)I really have not had much to blog about anyway but I am starting to look at my life like a blog post waiting to happen again and should have some fun and exciting stories coming out again soon. Thanks for being patient!

Early Fall Days

Today the weather was begging for a good walk and a photo shoot so here are the results....

Aedan's first day taking the bus to school!!

Well today my little boy went on the bus to school for the first time ALL BY HIMSELF!!!

When we were getting ready to walk to his bus stop he had questions galore.  Things like... how will I know that I am on the right bus?  What is the name of the bus driver?  Is it going to be bumpy?  Will there be a lot of kids?  Will they let you come?  Do they know where my home is?  you name it he asked it.  We sang the wheels on the bus and that seemed to calm down his nerves a little.  the bus came, he hopped right up asked the driver where he should sit and smiled and waved good bye through the window.  I was no good after that!  It was at least 2 hours later before I was not fighting back the tears anymore :)  What a big boy!!

When it came time for school to be out Abbey, Rowenna and me waited at the corner for about 40 minutes :)  yea apparently I was really eager to have him back :)

Aedans last parent/child day at school

When Aedan woke up this morning he was both excited and quietly nervous. This, after all,  was the last parent/child day!
He ate a great breakfast, got ready with exuberance and even posed for pics on the step before we left.

As we parked in the parking lot and as we walking into the building he was talking a mile a minute, about his shadow, the sun, recess, differences in boys and girls and well really anything and everything!
He walked down the stairs and straight to his classroom like he had been there a hundred times but in reality he had been there once. We were greeted by Ms. Baker and given a scavenger hunt to do; he loves scavenger hunts.
We refound his locker and checked that off the list then I noticed the bathroom was the next item of interest so without thinking I went to the one in the hall. This is important because when we made it back to the classroom all the other children were already seated on the carpet singing a song and when Aedan realized he was the only one not doing it his nerves were set off big time!!  He chose to sit on my lap for all of singing and story time. When the story was over they made a craft of the mouse in tthe story, he was quickly off to the table to sit with the other kids and color.

                                               They made mice that live in their lockers.


When we were leaving I tried to get pics of him in front of the locker but this is all he would give me.

Oh well can't wait to hear how tomorrow goes, his first day without me!!

Today Is Very Boring

Today is very boring,
It's a very boring day,
There is nothing much to look at,
There is nothing much to say,
There's a peacock on my sneakers,
There's a penguin on my head,
There's a doormouse on my doorstep,
I am going back to bed.

Today is very boring,

There is absolutely nothing
That I think I want to do,
I see giants riding rhinos,
And a ogre with a sword,
There's a dragon blowing smoke rings,
I am positively bored.

The trouble with Swimming Pools...

To this in just 4 days!!!!




After much debate we decided it IS worth dumping the money into it this late in the swimming season in hopes it will save us time and money when we reopen next May.  We are $140 in and our pool looks like this.  Not green but VERY cloudy.




I am really hoping that as soon as tomorrow I will be posting a pic of a sparkling clean and inviting (if not a tad freezing) pool :)  Here's to hoping

Abbey Turns 1!!!

For Abbey's 1st Birthday we had a uber intimate party with just the immediate family, the child I watch during the day and my close friend Lori. The whole vibe that evening was all about Abbey!
When I brought Abbey downstairs after her nap she immediately started pointing and gabbing about the balloons, flowers and decorations "Booooons, boooons". It was a surprise twist for her to notice the decorations let alone appreciate them so much (and no Cindy she didn't even cry for the Birthday Song).

As I started thinking about the different words and various other skills she can do this is what I came up with...
She says:
Hi, cheese, flower, water, balloon, Aedan, Adam, Meg, Rowenna, dog, uh oh, I'm all done, night night, yum, popcorn, down, up, window, cat, Mom Mom, DaDa, baby, duck, owch, book, noodle, cracker, banana, thank you and I am sure I missed at least one.

She can also find her ears, eyes, nose, mouth, toungue and toes when asked. Makes numerous animal sounds, can stand up by herself, blows kisses and gives bear hugs!

Abbey has a strong habit of throwing food all over the floor. She has discovered that if she follows Aedan around the house and makes sounds like he is attacking her that he will get in trouble!! But not anymore (poor Aedan)

 Oh Yea and did I mention she likes cake :)
